I have a soft spot for reality shows especially the ‘Real Housewives’ franchise – Atlanta, Beverley Hills and New York are my favourites. Yep. I can appreciate ‘trash’ television when it’s good and the cast members give the audience a knowing wink. You know don’t take it too seriously. It’s entertainment! All this orchestrated drama is for your viewing pleasure. And I eat it up.
Oh yes! I can be frivilous.
I recently got addicted to 'Ladies of London'. A new London
based reality show which is part of Bravo’s ‘Real Housewives' franchise. The
clue is in the title. We get to fallow a group of affluent US and British women
as their go about their daily glamorous lives (do people really live like this?
Of course!) for our consumption. The Americans do seem to be like fish out of water, desperately trying to fit into British society but not quite succeeding. As a Brit I find it all bizzare. And the opening credits just play up to stereotypes.
The breakout star (she’s got everybody talking) is Caroline
Stanbury. A rather attractive, blonde, upper class lady with a sharp tongue, a
witty reply to hand and a heart of gold. Although she tries desperately to hide
it. Caroline seems to know the people
who ‘matter’ in London society. She’s been making all the rounds on US television
and media giving interviews. One of those interviews was to USA Today – I guess a national tabloid
newspaper similar to our Daily Mail, the Sun and Daily Mirror - giving advice on
British etiquette and sharing her top ten best places to visit when in London. This is the whole reason for this post. It's a rather long winded way to get there but we get there. So below is Ms Caroline's list of the hottest places in London Town right now.
